never_vote_democrat asked: I have two apartment buildings. I need painting done. I own a 18′ extension ladder made of fiberglass. I also have a 7′ & 8′ step ladder made of fiber glass. All are not the super cheap 200 lbs capacity ladders, rather the “OK” 225 lbs capacity ladders that are still a reasonable cost.
My handyman is heavy. Easily 230 lbs. When I asked him about painting the building, he said “not on those ladders”. He told me the only one he uses is the 7′ step ladder, and not more than 2 steps up, because he is “afraid” of them. I’m actually going to go get a 6′ ladder either 250 lbs for $64 or 300 lbs for $74 today, so he can feel “safe”. My plan was to buy a 24′ aluminum extension ladder that supports 225 lbs for $128 today, but now I wonder if I should spend $194 for a 250 lbs one? I don’t like spending the extra $74, especially after spending $64-74 for a ladder I wouldn’t need if this guy lost some weight.
Should I hire someone else to paint? Is this overweight employee going to sue me? Thanks.
