Can an extension ladder (not step ladder) be safely used for someone to clear a roof of pine cones & branches?

Bugs Bunny asked:

I am concerned that if I prop an extension ladder against the side of a house, that it might fall sideways (with me on it). Any suggestions? Thanks.

What is the safest way to remove vinyl from a broiling pan?

Fall Beauty asked:

We accidentally placed a hot broiling pan on a vinyl covered step ladder. The vinyl covering of the step ladder melted onto the bottom of the broiling pan and is now caked on. What is the safest way to remove it from the broiling pan so we can use it again?

Mobile Safety Steps – Replacing Old Ladders

rajan mr asked:

Why stretch yourself to reach for items off the top shelf when you can reach it comfortably by using a set of mobile safety steps. We have been using ladders since a long time, however, with the increasing concern about industrial safety and lack of storage space they have been replaced by mobile safety steps. It has been observed that industrial workers often fall victim to muscle stretch, sprain and even spinal injuries when trying to access and handle heavy objects at a height.

Mobile safety steps typically give access to high storage areas safely and are made up of strong tubular steel. These equipments are designed in a way to prevent slipping and to make them safe at work. Available in a range of 2 feet to 10 feet, mobile safety steps are available in spring action, lever break, push and foot lock variants. They are of prime importance for easy access, where overhead clearance is limited. The improved folding handrail feature provides an overall height advantage, thus allowing access through common doorways. One can also choose to keep the mobile ladders out of public areas to eliminate potential hazards.

Some of the points that you should always consider while buying these portale ladders are that it should be stable, strong and suitably-sized as per your requirement. The footings should be immobile to ensure that the rungs remain horizontal. The feet of these mobile steps are designed to help prevent from slipping during use by securing the stiles at or near their upper or lower ends, by any anti-slip device or by any other arrangement of equivalent effectiveness. Mobile safety steps are the best in safety and reduce workplace hazards to a great extent. Also known as warehouse steps, they help offer a safe and strong solution for all professional and domestic needs. Mobile Steps are available in different varieties and ranges of sizes and colors with easy glide; all weather non-slip molding treads. The other major advantage of using a mobile safety step is that they are easy to store.

Built with super high quality steel these mobile steps are not only safe and convenient but also very comfortable to use. The castors used are spring loaded and they retract as soon as weight is applied on the steps, and giving the non-slip base a firm and safe grip to the floor. The circular pads grip the floor when load is applied and handle the whole structure efficiently preventing it from slipping. The features that make these ladders attractive are: strong welded steel construction and quality finish, along with ribbed rubber or anti slip tread surfaces. In every case the quality of these ladders are checked before putting into use. A wide range of mobile safety steps are easily available in the market. They give access to high storage areas safely and folds down making them easy to move around the work area.

If mobile safety steps are not provided at workplaces then there is always the risk of workers climbing up the racks to access stock. These can often lead to damaged shelving and accidents from falling. So in order to keep together a simple platform and provide safe access to materials, reducing physical efforts and risks of workplace hazards, mobile safety steps are essential equipment for everyday work. These Mobile safety steps have become an integral part of the category of safety equipments that can prevent potential hazards at workplaces.

Ten Tips on How to How to Climb That Career Ladder

Atiyah Wazir asked:

(c) 2008 Atiyah Wazir

So you’ve been slogging your guts out for the last five years, and you’re great at what you do but your achievements are yet to be noticed? You know how to do the work of your bosses and are often called upon to help. In return you get a nice bonus every now and then, but what you really want is a promotion. So what should you be doing to help get that promotion that you deserve?

It’s simple; you need to find the gap between what you do today and what needs to be done to get you on the next step of the career ladder.

“There’s nothing stopping you from getting a promotion apart from yourself. It is really important to challenge yourself on a daily basis so that you don’t just deliver, you over-deliver. Believe in yourself and your abilities and the rest will come naturally. You could be a natural leader; you just might not know it yet”

Top 10 Tips On How to Get That Promotion That You Deserve

1. Be politically correct - know what to say, when to say it and who to - get this right and the corporate ladder will be open.

2. Get a mentor for yourself (a mentor must have clout and stature in your organisation). He or she is committed to your success and promotion.

3. Really understand what your boss and other senior managers are concerned about and ensure that you are addressing these in the way you conduct your own job. This is very different from “sucking up to them”. It is authentically convincing them that you appreciate and are focussed on the bigger picture and not just satisfied with doing a good job in your own “little” pool.

4. Stay in communication with the senior management - don’t wait for them to contact you!

5. Not only deliver but where possible over-deliver - consistently meet targets and show the bosses what you really can do.

6. Go beyond the call of duty - bosses looking for those are not only do a good job but also who take the initiative.

7. Adapt to your situation - be flexible as to your career and the development it will take - this will make your chances of promotion much higher.

8. Don’t be afraid - bosses promote natural leaders mainly as leadership means having strong opinions and knowing how to express them regardless of who you step on along the way.

9. Learn new skills wherever and whenever you can - ask to work with clients who are doing the most innovative projects and request extra training to expand your skill set.

10. Believe in yourself - believe you’re good at what you’re telling people you’re good at - by selling yourself people will have more belief in you as a leader

Not sure how to handle painting my walls, will be doing myself and I’m 64 yr old female. Seems like using a step ladder I would be wore out before one wall was done. Big room I might add. 14X22.

How Your Personal Image Can Help You Climb the Corporate Ladder

Tony Jacowski asked:

In terms of your personal life, this theory might hold well and socially, you’ll probably be a great success. However, in the business world, if you have any hopes of being successful, then you may have to rethink the whole concept - you cannot afford to be yourself in the world of business, there are always certain changes that need to be made to your personal image in order to progress.

The purpose of this article is to inform you about the importance of creating a good personal image for yourself, and how in the end, personal image is the key to helping you climb that corporate ladder.

The two main factors that constitute our personal image:

-Appearance

-Attitude

Appearance

As far as our appearances are concerned, the biggest problem would be that a lot of business folks have started believing in the Hollywood, fairytale image of corporate tycoons and big wigs as people who are relaxed and laid back - people who couldn’t care less about their appearances and wear loud shirts and sport piercings. This is an image that most of us would love to adopt in the real world right? But, keep in mind, no matter how much you want the world to be like this, it cant - this is no reflection of the world.

In reality, when you are out there rubbing shoulders with other businessmen and women, you need to realize that none of these people really care about your personal style statements and how it reflects you as a person - whether these people happen to be your bosses or clients. In business, your first impression is always the last impression, making it one of the most important ones. People really want to deal with someone who dresses well and looks like someone who is qualified and professional - the spitting image of that successful person they have in mind. No one wants to see someone who looks like he’s come right out of the 60’s hippie boom.

Suits will always be, and have always been the best articles of clothing to convey a sober yet professional message across to the others. This is the only kind of appearance that works in the world of business.

Attitude

As far as personal image in the world of business is concerned, another major adjustment that you might have to make is your attitude. Having one of those “screw you” attitudes wont get you anywhere in the corporate world because everyone you are dealing with in business is someone - and, you don’t want to anger that someone, as it could have dire repercussions for your business. The last thing you want is to make your clients think that you don’t care about them and their wants.

So, never be vocal when it comes to criticizing people, and always remember that you will always have hundreds of competitors in the market who are waiting to take your place and climb that corporate ladder. Always be diplomatic, and never say anything that you will regret.

There is a very fine line between being too friendly and not friendly enough. You needn’t fake it entirely though - in fact, going out of your way to make a good impression for the others can be quite obvious and most people will tell you that you are trying way too hard. The key to having the perfect attitude is to find the focal between the two extremes, and once you find this point you should allow your quality and work ethics speak for you.

Always seize opportunities when they are presented to you. Never go around bragging about your accomplishments, but if you are asked about them, don’t ever shy away from giving details about your various achievements in the business. Going up the corporate ladder means that you are constantly aware of where you stand, what your next step is going to be, and who can give you a push upwards or pull you down.

Establishing the Value Ladder

Russell Brunson asked:

Providing value to your customers should be the number one goal in your business. Rather than focusing on making the money, focus on building a value ladder—create a system where value increases as people become long-term customers. This, I promise, will compensate you well.

But what does this look like, you ask?

Before I answer that, there is an important key to understand about people who will be interested in your products: People will pay different prices for the same content packaged in different ways.

Let me explain. I purchased a book called Think and Grow Rich for $9.97. Even though I was very interested in the topic, I didn’t get around to reading it. I later found the same book on CD, and I gladly paid $97 for it so I could listen to it in my car.

This was the same content, but a different price and different value to me as a customer.

Here’s what the value ladder looks like:

* The bottom step of the ladder is text—an e-book or a hard copy book. People will pay the least amount of money for a book, and it will probably cost you much time and effort to write it. For example, I’m writing a book right now that we’ll sell for about $15 online.

* The next step is audio. Same content, but people will pay a little more because it’s. In other words I jump up from a book to CD courses. With a little more depth to the teaching, we sell courses from $97 to $997 depending if it’s a one-CD or 15-CD teaching.

* The next step on the value ladder is video. Here people can watch the presentation, see the power point slides, and watch you give examples on DVD. And, yes, they’re willing to pay more for that.

* Next come seminars. This is a live setting where people can ask questions, and you can explain things better in response. You provide more value, and you can charge more for it.

* The next step is live training, like one-on-one coaching. People have one-on-one access to a coach, which means again higher value.

* Then you can become a business partner with others. For example, in our partnership program, I’m a business partner with nine people. I’ve got some skin in the game. I want to make sure they succeed because when they make money, I make money.

* The final step is ownership. You can do franchising—provide the opportunity for people to own parts of your company. Obviously the price increases as the value you provide increases.

Do you see how powerful this model can be? You provide more and more value along this ascension ladder. The higher you climb, the better the value your customers get, and the better the profit you receive.
